With the launch of her fashion line with British clothing company, River Island, you can even dress like Rihanna. To complete your Rihanna-inspired style, you’ll soon to able to purchase her cosmetics line with MAC, set to drop throughout 2013.
Rihanna, a loyal fan of the brand uses their products while on tour and wanted to create her makeup with “a brand that pops into your mind—something legit—[like] MAC.” RiRi Woo, a blue-red matte lipstick inspired by Rihanna’s go-to MAC color, Ruby Woo, will debut during the last two, sold out dates of her upcoming Diamonds tour at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center on May 4-5. During the first night of Rihanna’s performances, MAC will set up a pop-up shop to unveil the entire line exclusively to ticket holders. The signature RiRi [hearts] MAC lipstick will be available at concerts and online. Following the release of the four piece debut, will be a summer collection sold online. The third will be sold in MAC stores and retailers for fall as well as an on-counter holiday collection.
The RiRi [hearts] MAC line sets itself apart from other celebrity-backed MAC lines (Think Viva Glam’s Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj’s lipsticks.) by being the first full line of cosmetics developed beyond one product with a celebrity. Each of the four distinct color initiatives, all of which include RiRi Woo, are like “four tracks on a Rihanna compilation” explains John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., MAC’s parent company. “Each one has its own vibe, look, special makeup packaging, and flavor. This is really the convergence of pop culture, fashion, and iconic style, and make up.” Demsey continues on to explain “[Rihanna’s] a star. The world follows her look—how she wears her hair, her nails, her clothing, how she styles herself.” The RiRi [hearts] MAC Line is projected to generate $15 million is sales globally.
