Bigger is better on the runway this season, and we saw curls to prove it. Turn your curls into a model-worthy mane with these key tips and products.
Marc by Marc Jacobs made a splash this season with models fronting flowy beachy curls. This fun and playful look can be achieved through a few simple steps to bring you a new 1940’s era voluminous head of hair. Blow-dry your hair using a simple mousse, then tightly curl your hair with a one-inch wide curling iron. Pin your curls tightly to your head, wrapping them around curling pins until your entire head of hair is pinned. Once your hair is completely dry, comb out your curls using your fingers and a bristle brush, backwards combing the bottom of your curls. To finish off your teased spiral look, turn your head upside down and apply Redken’s Fashion Work 12 Versatile Working Spray. Flip your hair several times, then hit the streets catwalk ready.
There's nothing like a little New York City grunge to give your look a new level. This season we saw more voluminous babes on the runway than ever before, sporting Marilyn-esque curls with a hint of punk-rock. Start by powdering down your hair with a dry-shampoo to add some firmness to your locks. Use large hot curling pins on the top half of your hair, then for the bottom half use a slim hot curling iron. Pin the bottom half of your hair up until your curling pins are cool, then flip your hair and apply Catwalk by Tigi Sleek Mystique Look-Lock Hairspray.
Flashback to the 90’s with the original crimp look that is perfect for a summer soiree. For best results, try and refrain from washing to keep your crimps intact, and slick your hair back tightly in a top of the head ponytail. Starting at the top of the ponytail, use a hot press crimping iron and slowly pull through the ends of your hair. Once crimped, pull your hair down from the ponytail and proceed to crimp the bottom half of your locks. Once finished, generously apply Suave Professionals Healthy Curls Scrunching Mousse and crunch your crimped hair in an upward motion.
