The Grunge Fashion Trend
How to dress grunge!

Bold and dangerous, the grunge fashion trend which took the world by storm in the early 1990s is back! The model of the moment, Cara Delevigne, is famously known for her grungy style of beanie hats, leather jackets and leggings along with her copious amounts of high-top sneakers. She is commonly referred to as the 21st century Kate Moss, who is equally well known for her grunge style wardrobe.

This grunge trend has many sub-categories; neo-grunge characterized by a more polished look with the same grunge elements, indie grunge which is takes on a more vintage vibe and then there’s glam grunge which tends to be a little more sophisticated. So knowing how to accomplish a balanced mix of grunge and sexy at the same time can be a difficult task, which is why we’ve compiled a list of some fabulous fashion tips for those of you vying to look like your favourite stars.

The first and most important tip of attaining this chic style is layers, and a lot of them. You’ll need layers of vintage clothing, loose sweaters and tops, ripped jeans, graphic pants, cropped tops and a lot of mixing patterns and prints. You’ll also always give preference to dark colors, considering the grunge color is black. Flannel shirts are another must have along with denim, and not only denim jeans, we mean denim vests, jackets and bags. Leggings, lace and patterned tights are an equally essential trio for the grunge look, and you can rock these with any signature band or graphic t-shirt. And lastly, leather is a fashion must have when dressing yourself in the grunge style, such as leather leggings, jackets, skirts, shorts and boots. In addition to clothing, when it comes to bags and accessories it’s always either oversized or tiny, we have no room for the in-between!

So remember, the whole grunge trend is about making your fashion effort look effortless, so don’t be afraid to play with your clothing…it’s suppose to look like you just threw your clothes on anyway!
