Moves Magazine hosted an event promoting their 2013 Fall Fashion Men’s Cover at the rooftop lounge of the Refinery Hotel in Midtown West on Monday, August 26. The guest of honor was the issue’s cover star, Patrick Dempsey, who looked sharp in a well-tailored suit. Manhattan’s fashionable schmoozed over lobster rolls and risotto balls while Dempsey smiled for the paparazzi like a pro. The rooftop gave way to a fabulous view of the Empire State Building and city skyline--Moves sure knows how to throw a party!
Also featured at the event were some of Dempsey’s current projects. His upcoming Discovery Channel documentary, Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans ,about his quest to conquer racing outside of acting, was well publicized. Additionally, there was a great display of this year's designs from Austrian luxury eye-wear brand, Silhouette,as he is currently the face of the brand. We were fortunate enough to chat with Silhouette’s style consultant Kim Cole about what makes Dempsey the perfect fit.
Silhouette’s signature look is their custom made and rimless design. Every pair is made to order out of their trade-marked SPX plastic material so that it fits every customer’s face perfectly. The supreme comfort and high quality of the brand are internationally renowned. Dempsey has been their spokesman for the past few months because he epitomizes class and style. However, Cole says that their brand does not have a target consumer: “Silhouette is for anyone who appreciates high quality eyewear and unbeatable comfort.” She even admits to falling asleep with her glasses on stating, “You barely remember they are there.” The rimless design highlights the face as opposed to detracting from it as glasses usually do. Silhouette also has some more high-fashion non-prescription sunglasses retailing next year. We bet that Patrick Dempsey will look great in those too!
Dempsey came and left quickly, but made time to talk to many guests--a natural host! Also in attendance were model Veronica Del Gatto and Project Runway contestant and designer Althea Harper.
