Ryan Jordan: NYFW Spring/Summer 2014
The young designer's collection is futuristic and flawless

Rising young designer Ryan Jordan debuted his SS/14 collection Friday night, September 6, during New York Fashion Week, and the presentation blew us away.  Only two years out of Parsons, Jordan went straight to work as Nicola Formichetti’s assistant at Mugler and has worked on projects for Lady Gaga.  Now he’s launched his own line that is already demanding attention within the fashion world.

Jordan became interested in fashion at a young age – influenced by his grandmother, who was a dressmaker in the Philippines, and his mother, who studied and worked in fashion.  He sees fashion as something that allows us to cope with our insecurities, and wants to create designs that give women confidence.  “The RYAN JORDAN woman always has a fearless exterior,” the designer explained.

The collection we saw Friday night had a futuristic feel to it, and the pieces were structured yet sexy.  The details were flawless right down to the nails, which were done by celebrity nail stylist Mary Soul.  The presentation space also complemented the fashion seamlessly.  Flowers and geometric accents filled the industrial room to create the perfect mix of masculine and feminine.

The hair style was 80’s meets 1940’s. Head stylist, Jorge Luis of Prive, slicked back the sides of the hair and created volume and height on top using Prive Finishing Texture Spray. He then added delicate waves in the back to soften the look. Jorge finished the look with Prive Flash Brilliance for added shine.
