Something magical happens when you enter Violet Willow, a boutique located in the charming neighborhood of Atwater Village. You immediately want to take off your coat and stay awhile.

It could be the store's décor, with its violet-colored walls, birch branches and antique, vintage dressers. Or maybe it's the endless supply of mini chocolates and the smell of Asian Lychee Blossom candles. Personally, I think it's the sisters who own the boutique. 

When envisioning Violet Willow, owners Lisa and Denise Robey, set out to open a lifestyle boutique. They wanted a place where women of all shapes and sizes could feel good about their bodies. Unlike other boutiques, Violet Willow carries designers like Collective Clothing, Cut Loose and DownEast in sizes small through Double X.

The sisters' motto: no matter your size, you should look fabulous in what you wear.

Even though the store's sizes vary, their selection is quite unique. Each piece of clothing is different than the next and no matter what you buy, you are sure to make a statement. The jewelry has its own original vibe as well. One of my favorites among the jewelry is a pair of oversized, copper, hoop earrings. They're like mini pieces of art.

Throw on a Cut Loose black and periwinkle striped top over leggings and pumps and you'll look great sitting on the patio at Magnolia. Dress up jeans and a T-shirt with an Ellison tweed blazer will make you shine at your next board meeting. Show a little skin in a green Dolce Vita top and you'll turn heads while sipping Martini's at the Thompson Hotel.

While the cost of the merchandise at Violet Willow is reasonable, the sisters' generosity is priceless. So, next time you're in the mood to go shopping and none of your girlfriends are around, rest assured Lisa and Denise are the only girlfriends you need.
