In an attempt to heighten sales from the work-wear market, yet please the eye with delightfully whimsical spring styles, top designers are reeling in the female market with a delightful fusion of the two. Fun, happy floral pieces float down the runway next to spring-inspired tailored dresses and suits perfect for office settings. Since the market for work wear is usually the top-grossing, fashion designers are trying their hardest to appeal to a recession-fearing, work minded crowd for spring.
At his Sunday morning show, Derek Lam took himself on vacation. Usually a designer known for muted tones, Derek expanded his repertoire with springtime shades of rose, gold, turquoise and red. And for leisure times, little gathered floral frocks created sexy, figure-hugging silhouettes.
With fashion on the forefront of everyone’s mind this week, excitement has been buzzing on all aspects. BCBG already selling two runway looks, Fashion's Night Out tonight, and the exciting news of Alexander McQueen broadcasting his Spring 2010 runway show in Paris on his website, www.alexandermcqueen.com. His post on Twitter last night said, “wanted to let you know that my next show on Oct 6th is going to be streamed on my website for you all to see – Lee McQueen.”
Fashion is fast, and you need to be on top. Shortly after—maybe twenty minutes—BCBG had two of their runway looks available on their website for sale. Start your spring wardrobe now! In stock and ready to go, the two available dresses do come in limited quantities, so you need to act fast! Celebs like Amanda Bynes and Solange Knowles were front and center to see the colorfully geometric patterns and shapes of BCBG’s nearly 70 dresses. Beading adorned the garments, while clutches with tassles and strappy heels complemented the form-fitting garments.

Reality hits the runway for Fashion Week. Those women you love to hate, or hate to love on the oh-so-popular, over-dramatized reality shows, will be showcasing their lines under the tents at Bryant Park. Move over Gucci and Prada—fashion has a new wave of divas. And I do mean divas.
The show I am most anticipating is Whitney Port’s from The City. Her line, Whitney Eve, will make its debut this afternoon. Her inspiration: “Funderland.” E! Online reports she described it as “Alice in Wonderland goes to a really chic cocktail party.” Port is not the only one of her reality co-stars to start a fashion line, (Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag also have them), but she will be the first to show at Bryant Park.
Cosmetic company MAC has invited the Paris-based designer to debut his film this Sunday, September 13. Pugh tells Vogue that it “Will represent the essence of what the show this season is about, although it couldn’t be further from a trailer, it’s more of an abstract insight.”
