Glam Damn It
As you might remember, Cindy Crawford used to host a show on MTV called House of Style. Well it is reportedly being brought back and the new host will be model Bar Rafaeli. The Israeli beauty just got the coveted Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover, which is sure to make her a household name, and hosting a show on MTV will only help her continue to rise to superstardom.
Did we mention she is currently dating Leonardo DiCaprio? Sigh…

Fashion star, Phoebe Philo, is making her comeback after being out of the game for three years. Her first design for Celine will be introduced in June for the pre-spring and cruise seasons. In her first interview since taking over the creative helm of the brand for Louis Vuitton, she said, “[Celine] never stood for flashy fashion. It always felt like it was pretty sober, and that feels really relevant,” Philo then went on to say that, “It’s going to be more about a foundation for a wardrobe.”
Philo will be building her design team out of London where her family lives because that is where she feels more comfortable. She has also confirmed that she recently traveled to Tokyo to get some new ideas for the line. “I feel very strongly that we’ve got something very interesting to show,” she said. “I personally feel quite ambitious and excited about getting back into work and getting started.”
Designer Kate Spade is taking her collection to new heights, heel height that is. Kate Spade has always been known for her preppy flats and a more classic look, but will soon be refreshing her style. Deborah Lloyd, previously with Burberry and Banana Republic joined Kate Spade in 2006 and has been trying to revamp the look. “Before, Kate Spade [footwear] was a niche of mostly flats and mid-heel heights. Now we are looking at the whole world of the Kate Spade woman and offering a more comprehensive line of shoes.” Lloyd commented. [wwd]

John Galliano’s fall 2008 collection contained garments made of luxurious fabrics in a fantasy world of 20’s inspired silhouettes that only Galliano could create. Providing a delicate finish to each look were his shoes. Booties or platform t-straps made of suede and accented with gold metallic seams and tassels created a complementary contrast to the colored opaque tights worn by the models. Then there were the intricately cut out suede platforms with gold studs and curvy metallic heels, followed by the round-toe Mary Jane’s. With a snakeskin base and cut-out suede in the same tone as the snakeskin covering the toe and heel, these were no ordinary Mary Jane’s. There is a thick ankle strap of the same suede as found on the toe and heel attached at the side with three delicate suede buttons. All the shoes are delicate in design and rich in texture. A real treat for your feet!

At this point, it looks as though Milan’s Fashion Week will end one day earlier than planned. Originally, the shows were scheduled to happen from February 25 to March 4, but now they will wrap on March 3. Mario Boselli, head of the Italian Chamber of Fashion, told WWD that enough designers dropped out of participating this year as a result of the economy and no one wanted to have a half-empty day. He believes that this switch to a seven – day fashion week will only be temporary.
So, what can we expect from Milan’s fashion week calendar? Giorgio Armani, Jil Sander, Pucci, Sportmax, Bottega Veneta, Roberto Cavalli, Etro, Salvatore Ferragamo Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Prada will all make appearances. Still sounds pretty great to me.
