Glam Damn It
Is Topshop making its crowds seem bigger than they really are? The British clothing shop has been flooded with crazed shoppers since opening its first American outlet in SoHo early this month. But an insider tells the New York Post that some of the frenzy is smoke and mirrors. Club-style doormen are "purposely not letting in enough people at once, so that there are always people waiting outside," says an insider.
Hmmm, we would not be surprised. Let’s see what happens after the first couple of weeks wear off. We know their pieces are kind of amazing – but come on people – we’re in a recession here. We too doubt that there are wall to wall packed floors on the daily.
Oh, yes, sequin is back, and it comes in all forms. It’s fun to wear. It’s fun to accessorize with. When the light hits it just right, it sparkles. You really can’t go wrong. Well, that’s not entirely true. Sequin, like so many other trends, is best when worn sparingly. Wear too much sequin at once and you risk a major fashion faux pas. If wearing a sequin top or dress, accessorize with simple jewelry in neutral colors. Or be a little daring and pair a sequin shoe with an understated outfit. Check out the Giabattista Valli shoe and Miu Miu pump to get ideas. Of course, dress up any outfit with a sequin purse or clutch and embrace the sequin queen you are!
Ever wanted to smell like rap mogul Jay-Z or R&B princess Rihanna? Well here is your chance, Parlux Fragrances Inc. has inked a deal with Jay-Z, Rihanna and Kanye West to release fragrances, due out the summer of 2010. Parlux Fragrances are responsible for turning Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson into sniff able entities.
An interesting fact about this deal is that instead of receiving cash, the stars will get royalties and profit sharing in the fragrance brands they launch. But most of the payoff will be through Parlux stock.
It seems as though every celebrity has a fragrance line, Halle Berry just released her own eau de parfum (perfume) which she drank a shot of on the April 1st episode of the Ellen Degeneres show. Kylie Minogue, Kate Moss and Jenna Jameson will all have fragrances coming out before the end of this year. Great, because I have always wanted to smell like a former porn star.

I don’t know of anyone who liked math in high school; however this season geometry seems to be back in our lives and we are not afraid. Then again, you’re not stuck in a classroom with a less than exciting math teacher. Geometry of today features bold shapes and funky patterns. From dresses to handbags, shapes have found their way off the pages and into runway. Designers like Kai Kühne and Karl Lagerfeld use simple yet sophisticated shapes and colors this season to call our attention.
While Chris Kane and the designers at Marchesa took the more feminine route, using floral prints and bright intoxicating colors. Both labels took the regular shirt, skirt and dress and revamped into geometric artwork.
Fashion designers are constantly thinking outside the box and this season Viktor & Rolf and Comme De Garcons prove that theory. These two labels take the geometric trend and make it their own.
I’ve never heard of Op before, and I’m not even sure how to pronounce it, but a new ad for the clothing company got my attention.
AnnaLynne McCord, Sophia Bush, Solange Knowles, Joel Madden, Brody Jenner, Cody Linley and Bow Wow together star in the brand’s summer and spring ads. OK, so those aren’t exactly award-winning actors or singers, but they’re very recognizable!
“The ads will debut this month in fashion, lifestyle and entertainment magazines and online at op.com,” said Madden. The theme is a Good Charlotte concert Madden performs at on a beach.
The clothing line, sold exclusively at Wal-Mart, offers beach bum clothing such as bathing suits, baby doll dresses, hoodies and swimsuits for around $15. Other stars who have donned the “California style” attire for ads include Kristen Cavallari, Christina Milian, Rumer Willis, Josie Maran, Wilmer Valderrama and Pete Wentz.
