MAC Goes Disney!
Having launched successful ventures with superstars like Rihanna and Nicki Minaj, MAC Cosmetics is quickly becoming known as the top collaborator for mainstream pop culture and makeup cosmetics. Their latest undertaking has pared them up with the big wigs at Disney to launch the limited edition color makeup collection, MAC Maleficent. The collection is inspired by the widely famous 1959 Disney film villain, as well as the new film, Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie.

The 21st annual SXSW festival returned to Austin, Texas for its 5 day festival. As always, SXSW was full with music, movies, art, fashion and free booze. Sounds like a good party, huh? With festivals, you can always count on seeing styles that you wouldn’t really see at awards shows. People get to let their hair down and be themselves. It’s always interesting to see people’s personal style. While you won’t see any cocktail dresses or suits and ties, you’ll be impressed with these laid back style looks. We wanted to get inspired by Austin’s western street style and some celebrity looks down South Congress Street while SXSW took place. From different singular prints to colorful colors and lots of in between, these Austin street styles were worth talking about.

Braids have been a big trend for the past few years; from the French to the fishtail, the five-strand to the milk maid, braids always make an impressive statement. Celebs like Jessica Alba, Amanda Seyfreid, Kim K, and of course fish-tail lover Blake Lively have all sported braids on the red carpet. Though they may seem intimidating, braids can be very manageable once you get the technique down. This past Wednesday at the Pierre Michel salon at 135 57th St., hair stylists taught New York City’s trendiest ladies how to get the hottest braided hair-dos. The salon was the perfect location for this ladies’ night. Huge, sleek and modern, the hip stylists skillfully created stunning braided styles in a matter of minutes. Ladies learned the do’s and don’ts of braiding, such as taking your time and not freaking if it’s not exactly even (that’s what bobby pins are for)!
Though it has been around since 1999, Muse Apparel is making a big splash on the style scene this season with their newest spring collection. Bright pops of color and a fun and feminine vibe, their line of dresses is big with bloggers and celebs alike. (Kris Jenner and Krisitin Chenowith have both been sported sporting Muse.) Shift dresses and A-lines are their staples, but eyelet textures and funky patterns really make a bold statement on these classic cuts!
Mini, midi or maxi, we are so looking forward to wearing their bright colors and graphic prints when the weather gets warmer. Available now, their resort and spring collections can be found at shops like Belk, Macy’s or Lord and Taylor. We found some of our favorite Muse picks online, like this gorgeous water color dress, or this sexy faux leather fit and flare midi for the office.
