Chicago Air and Water Show Aboard Anita Dee II

On August 19th, the annual spectacle that takes over Chicago’s waterfront each summer is back again. The only drawback is avoiding the nasty crowd of 2 million people who come together to watch it. There’s a solution: Come aboard the Anita Dee II Yacht and enjoy the luxury of not being bothered by the chaos and being treated like a VIP.

There’s no better way to observe this historical show than from the middle of the action. Once on board the spacious yacht, you are entitled to a 4-hour open bar, a buffet, and a live DJ performance.

Baked Booze: Prohibition Bakery to Offer Alcohol Infused Cupcakes

On July 26th, the talents of a classically trained chef and an experienced bartender will unite to form a colossal product: the ultimate alcoholic cupcake at NYC’s Prohibition Bakery.

Passerby’s of 9 Clinton Street have been teased by the makeshift signs, impatiently awaiting its opening to get a taste of these boozy treats. With the cupcake phenomenon in full swing, we have no doubt that New Yorkers will jump at the idea of getting their hands on spiked cupcakes.

We took a peak at the bakery’s menu on its website, and we definitely can’t wait to get our hands on a Sangria cupcake, comprised of orange, pinot noir, pear brandy, and apple chip. Hey kids don’t worry, there are virgin cupcakes on the menu too – even bacon flavored.

NYC To Welcome The Luxurious SLS Hotel

The NoMad area, known for its upscale hotels, will soon welcome SLS to the territory. Sam Nazarian, founder and CEO of SBE, a luxury hospitality real estate development and lifestyle company, teamed up with Moin Development Corp to take on the New York project.

Moin Development Corp has expressed enthusiasm with its involvement in the hotel on their website: “As our most recent acquisition, 444 Park Avenue South was an ideal opportunity for MDC to pick up an incredible asset in a AAA location. We are currently renovating the 100,000 sf property and repositioning the building to take advantage of the red hot Midtown South sector.”

Meatpacking Nightlife Faces Crowd Reduction Plans

West 16th Street, the home of Dream Downtown, Maritime Hotel, and No. 8, seems to be facing crowding issues due to the extensive lines outside of the hot venues.

A New York favorite, Tao, is set to open its second NYC location inside the Maritime, a spot that will undoubtedly draw attention. Committee co-chairman Paul Seres scrutinized the detailed plan of the new venue, and was pleased with its availability of an indoor hallway space for busy nights.

No. 8, successor of the well-known Bungalow 8, is still in the works of managing crowds entirely. "I think you've got six weeks to figure out and get all the kinks out before everybody starts realizing what's going on on 16th Street, especially with some of the new neighbors coming in," Seres said.

Putting crowd control aside, all we can say is we’re always thrilled when we hear of new establishments!

[PICS] Shape Magazine and Maria Menounos' Beachside Bash

To celebrate her Shape Magazine cover, Extra! host Maria Menounos spent this past Saturday at the Chapstick Beach House in Malibu. Joined by friends and film producer boyfriend Kevin Undergaro, they had a blast on the sands of the Pacific.

Former Dancing With the Stars partner Derek Hough, and NFL player Terrell Owens joined Maria for beach tennis lessons with professionals. Throughout the day, Ashley Borden, co-host of The Cooking Channel’s Drop 5 Pounds, offered one-on-one consultations to the guests regarding smart lifestyle choices. Borden is also an advisor for Livestrong’s new YouTube channel and an author of Your Perfect Fit.

Notorious 'Royal' Bar Brawl Still Not Over

This past February we reported on the Double Seven bar brawl between Grace Kelly’s grandson, Pierre Casiraghi, and Paris Hilton’s ex Stavros Niarchos III against former nightclub owner Adam Hock.

Five months later there’s STILL drama! The Prince and his crew are now taking action and suing Hock, his attorney, the Double Seven, and the club’s owner Jeffrey Jah. Casiraghi’s reasoning is that the club should have known that Hock was “a person of pugilistic propensity,” and thus should not have been served alcoholic beverages that evening.

Boating and Fun for Everyone

So the water surrounding New York City is probably not the cleanest on Earth… we know. However, as a water town, we often enjoy peering down at the harbor, yet we never really get the chance to visit up close and personal… until now.

On July 14th, The Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance City of Water Day will provide families the opportunity to spend the day down at the New York – New Jersey harbor. Festivities will occur at both Governor’s Island and Liberty State Park, and a complimentary ferry will take guests back and forth continuously.
