We all have seen and heard of President Barack Obama stopping at certain fast food spots and surprising diners in restaurants. Now someone has put all that into a book. TCB café has just published The Obama Menu: Dining with Barack Obama. In this bizarre, but rapidly selling new publication, author A.K. Krump has published menus and dinner plans from all of President Obama’s 2008 campaign fundraising dinners.
On top of that he has included the stories that were passed around at the table, first-hand accounts from diners, as well as photographs and recipes of the food that was shared. Is this something that we all want to read about? What the President eats? We all know we Americans love our food, but who knew this much. [NYmag]
Yes, you are reading the headline correctly. Apparently there is more than one Japonais in New York. No, there aren’t two locations, but two different owners evidently own restaurants names Japonais. Ray Tuccillo opened Japonais Restaurant & Lounge in 2008 in Westbury, Long Island - allegedly prior to the opening of the large Japonais fusion chain of restaurants that exist in Chicago, Las Vegas, and of course NYC.
In a lawsuit filled a few weeks ago, Tuccillo feels that since he had the name first in New York, he should not only be able to keep the name, but also force the other restaurants to change theirs, as well as pay him damages. What’s a good lawsuit without money damages right?
Only in America would there be something called a National Donut Day. What better time to take a break from trying to get your body back in shape for those bathing suits then now? Dunkin’ Donuts is celebrating National Donut Day this Friday, June 5th, by giving any customer that buys any beverage a free donut of their choice. TGIF and TGFD (Thank God For Donuts).
If shacking it up in the Hamptons for the summer is your thing, you’ll want to check out Bridgehampton’s latest installment: The Harbor Club. Blue & Cream owner Jeffrey Goldstein (the East Hampton and Manhattan boutique that draws the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz and the Olsen twins) protégés Ben Grieff and David Marino are the main players behind the latest spot said to cater to the ‘it’ crowd.
At 964 Bridgehampton/Sag Harbor Turnpike, the space boasts 15 foot ceilings, two main bars, an outdoor patio and sprawling yard with live music during the daytime and DJs spinning til 4 a.m. The official opening party is set for Memorial Day weekend kickoff this Friday and re-opened officially on Sunday at 3pm.
Chanel’s Paris/Moscow pre-fall ready-to-wear collection incorporates elements of imperial Russia and Russian folklore. The fashion house’s couture ateliers have once again created a luxury collection that stands out from the previous while keeping in form with the Chanel name. Photographed by Karl Lagerfeld himself, Sasha Pivovarova (IMG) is the face of the campaign, and we are not surprised by the designer’s choice. While the clothing remains a staple, the accessories speak for themselves – shining through each picture as their own shining statement. Below, check out the House of Chanel’s Paris/Moscow accessory video:
Photographer Steven Klein goes with muse and legendary supermodel Amber Valletta for a fashion spread in Italian Vogue Couture Supplement. “Wild Couture” features Valletta in high end couture gowns and high tea attire behind bars, chains, fences and iron – presumably intrigued by the caged in lions. The demure yet sexed up scene perfectly depicts a fashionista in the “wild”.

The May issue of the coveted V Magazine features an army of supermodels in an array of bathing suits and summer florals and brights. Stylist Yuki James goes against the grain - taking you through the most wanted evening wear of the seasons in not so summery of a color palate. Photographer Seiji Fujimori captured poses by model Katarina Ivanovska from Women Management in an assortment of sleek patterned or highly embellished knee length dresses and leggings or tights (which will still be in the mix for this upcoming fall season). Hair by Dennis Gots, Makeup by Asami Taguchi.
