"I love New Year’s resolutions!" said no one ever. Admit it: The only thing worse than ruminating over the past year, determining what needs to change in the coming months, and pretending you're going to stick to your guns is answering fellow NYE party-goers when asked what you will do differently in the coming year. Only a masochist likes to admit they were out of line before and torture themselves for the next 365 days in a traditionally punitive response to said actions. And yet many of us lay claims for future endeavors, whether or not we see it through (past January 2).
But did you know that some people actually (gasp) like New Year's resolutions and look forward to enacting them? You can be that person, too. Promise. It comes down to content and commitment, and it's not as painful as it seems. First, you need to pick a realistic goal. You are a busy human! You work, you relationship, you take care of your home and loved ones and hopefully your self, maybe even a hobby or two-- there's not much time for anything else in your life. There are only so many hours in a day! So start small.
It's obvious that The New Year's Eve Ball Drop in Times Square has been the highlight of NYE in New York City. Tourists from around the world come to witness this epic event! Even locals partake in the nights annual festivities! For over 100 years, the welcoming of the New Year has been broadcasted to billions of people and has become more than just an iconic event but an unforgettable moment in time.
Whether you'll be there to see it drop live, watching it on television, or partying the night away, Times Square can hold a piece of everyone when the clock strikes midnight. With that said. the Times Square Alliance allows people to write their wishes, dreams, hopes, and thoughts on pieces of official Times Square New Year’s Eve confetti. These wishes will be posted on the New Year’s Eve Wishing Wall located in the Times Square Museum & Visitor Center which is open 7 Days a week from 8AM - 8PM. There's also a Virtual Wishing Wall that allows you to submit your wish online if you can't make it! The wishes are collected at the end of the year, and added to the one ton of confetti that dances down on midnight onto the masses gathered in celebration of the New Year. I mean, how great is NYC?
Ah, New Year's. A time for us all to decide which party to go to and which friends to party with. Should we head to NYC to watch the ball drop? Should we go skiing up in the mountains? House party with some close friends? The decisions are endless, as are the decisions on what to wear. Everybody wants to look glam, damnit, and it can be hard to know just how to pull off that special look. Well, we are here to help. Here are some options to make your decision-making a little more easy.
Make-Up: First and foremost, the right makeup on New Year's Eve is so important. No one wants their eyeliner to run or their lipstick to fade as the night goes on. Make sure you start with a primer to keep that make-up lasting into the wee hours of the night. We like Benefit's That Gal Brightening Face Primer ($29) so give those cheeks an extra glow. If you're going for a bold lip, there's nothing better for NYE than Susan Posnick's Coloressentials line ($19). The lipsticks come in fun, bright colors and is super moisturizing and shiny, plus it's very compact so can fit into the smallest clutch for touch-ups. Make those eyes pop with Lashfully's Lash Appeal Kit ($38). The kit contains two sets of eyelashes with adhesive and tweezers and will provide the most natural and lusciously long lashes for you to don. With the most essential make-up musts out of the way, it's time to move onto what to wear.
