Summer Cool
A roof-top beach in Manhattan

No one embodies the art of kvetching quite as well as Woody Allen. Think back to "Manhattan"--Ike Davis bickering and complaining in every scene (while charmingly seducing both older and younger women). Having said this, no one is quite as New Yorky as Allen himself. To whine and bitch about everything is, in essence, to personify the city. Never being satisfied only makes you as New Yorker as it gets. And what's the city's favorite subject of dissatisfaction? The weather, of course.

Four months ago it was too cold, four weeks ago it was too rainy, last week it was too erratic and today it is too hot.

In an attempt to halt every form of complaint this summer, Vikram Chatwal Hotel line brings you the ultimate New York summer additive: a roof-top beach. And we're not just talking pools. A Cote D'azur inspired lounge with sand-covered floors and tropical sheds, Dream Downtown is, for a lack of a better term, a pseudo-paradisal spot. There's a bar offering pina coladas and picnic tables by the glass-bottom pool. You can chill in the main lobby and grab a meal and a drink, or you can get some color up on the "beach." There's no room for whining.

You will no longer have to suffocate in the streets of Manhattan or freeze inside AC-blasting rooms. You can even stop pretending that you're keen on the idea of tanning in your scorching rooftop. It's time you properly enjoy this summer.

I save the best for last: to chill at the roof-top beach you do not need to be a guest in the hotel or have any form of reservation. Just put on your best summer outfit, "unkvetch" the attitude and take pleasure in this weather.

Dream Downtown, located on 355 West 16th Street, is officially opening on June 10th.
