Quantcast
Take it back to the 20s with Bathtub Gin
Newly opened Prohibition-era style bar

You don't have to be a Boardwalk Empire savant to appreciate this new Prohibition era-styled bar, secretly located behind a non-discript coffee shop. Enter the venue and instantly feel as though you've stepped inside a bar during the roaring 20s. This joint has all the fixings of an old-time speakeasy, complete with waitresses donned in authentic flapper gear, dark, cozy booths, and a giant copper bathtub smack in the middle of the floor. Classic American dishes ($8-$26) are available, as well as a few choice dessert options (s'mores, anyone?). But let's not forget the real reason we came here. The gin. Bathtub Gin boasts six signature summer cocktails ($14-$15), four of which are gin-based. The other two support other types of booze, such as tequila and rum. Don't worry about them not playing the part...even the bathroom looks straight out of the 1920s (the renovated '20s, that is). So if you want to play secret sleuther, head to Chelsea and look for the small coffee shop that plays double agent and serves as a secret nightlife happening.
