Spring is here, and the best way to celebrate is to glug down tons of beer, learn (and taste) different wines, and of course, watch sexy burlesque dancers do their thing! Okay, maybe the beer drinking is the only thing you normally do, but everything else is sure to be a good addition to your springtime traditions!
The Naked Truth: A game/burlesque show unlike any other. The show features burlesque star Julie Atlas Muz, and is hosted by Jonny Porkpie at The Triad. It will also feature Trixie Little and the Evil Hate Monkey, Peekaboo Pointe, Bunny Buxom and Satira Sin. Audience members will be hypnotized by the moves of these performers as they take the stage. Lucky attendees can also partake of the action when they come on stage to take part in an interactive game show that has them attempting to expose (and guess) the performers' most intimate secrets (let's hope you don't have too many of your own!). All your hard detective work won't go unrewarded--awesome prizes will be given away! The show starts April 21st, with performances happening the third Saturday of each month until June. A 'Cru'-ise through Burgundy: Spina Restaurant is hosting a one-of-a-kind wine dinner, which will be highlighting the crus of Burgundy. The cruisin' starts at 7pm, so don't be late! Guests will taste wines made from chardonnay and pinot noir, two of the main grapes of the region, as well as other varietals representing Burgandy's gran and premier cus from the North and South. Some of the wines included are: Corton-Charlemagne, Echezeaux, Les Peuillets and more. Same Grape, Different Taste: Maslow 6 is holding an exclusive wine tasting seminar led by Karen King: former sommelier of Union Square Cafe and Gramercy Tavern, and current beverage director for the restaurants at MOMA. This accomplished sommelier will lead guests on an exploration of varietal taste across regions. This in-depth tasting will feature eight wines (grouped into flight by grape varietal), with each set illustrating the similarities and differences between each varietal. Dirty Martini: We aren't talking about the drink! Gotham Burlesque is welcoming international burlesque superstar, Dirty Martini, as the headliner for their first summer show taking place 10pm at The Triad. Joining the famed sultry siren will be contortionist Ekaterina, sword swallower The Great Fredini, magician Albert Cadabra, juggler Jen Slaw, and burlesque performers Madame Rosebud, Justina Flash, Grace Gotham, and Dangrrr Doll. Maifest: World Yacht is transforming Pier 81 into an outdoor beer garden in honor of its annual "Maifest" Event. Spring has sprung, and there's no better way to celebrate than with live entertainment, German-inspired eats, and plenty of brew! The event will be from 12-4:30pm, with an optional one-hour cruise (2-3pm) along the Hudson River. Beer will be provided by Paulaner and Hacker-Pschorr Beers, and is complimented by your typical boozy chow: sausages, pretzels, bratwursts, and more.
