5 Unique Events to Add to Your Summer To-Do List
There is life outside the club!

Summer is all about having fun and that doesn't necessarily mean skipping out of town to the Hamptons. There's plenty of hot happenings going on right in your backyard. Whether you like taking in a good play, getting hot and heavy at a burlesque show, trying out great new foods, or just drinking all day long, there are plenty of options in NYC for you!

Symphony of Shadows: A Tale from the Land Beyond the Veil- Rachel Klein Productions and Dixon Place are presenting the world premiere of this creepy tale. This show tells the story of a woman combating "a variety of sleep disorders, phantasmagorical night terrors, hypnotic horrors, and other, visually stunning conjurings from the subconscious depths of her own disturbed mind." The show combines elements of circus and aerial arts, dance, movement, burlesque, and operatic productions to vividly illustrate its storyline. If we haven't sold you yet, feel free to check out the video trailer here. Performances are Thurs-Sat in June at 7:30pm and tickets can be purchased online for $15.

Sunday Record- The Bedford has introduced a new brunch program, clashing a tasting table style brunch with an alternative record store. Intrigued? Every Sunday in the back bar, Gerald Hammil of Other Music, will curate live DJ programs as chef Jason Michael Giordano pairs market-driven signatures with the rare vinyl tracks. Dishes include, but are not limited to, Nutella and currant jelly French toast fritters and Migas, a scrambled egg dish with jalapenos, onions, cheese, and fried corn tortillas.

The Hunchback Variations- The NY premiere of the hit musical comedy based on the play by Mickle Maher has arrived at 59E59 Theaters. The show dramatizes a comedic and melancholy panel discussion between Quasimodo, hunchback of Notre Dame, and Ludwig van Beethoven, composer, on their attempt to create a mysterious soudn effect. The show plays out over eleven musical 'variations' which details the duo's collaboration. The play will be running the entire month of June. The Naughty Victorians- Horse Trade Theater Group and RadioTheatre bring to you a very prim, very proper, and very British Victorian erotica at The Kraine Theater. Enjoy scandalous tales like Fanny Hill, School Life in Paris, and more, from a great cast of storytellers, award winning design, and custom orchestral score. Prudes are not invited! Get your tickets quick, for the show is only June 7th 28th at 9pm.  Tickets are $25 (includes 2 drink minimum) available for purchase here.

Tequileria Maya- Richard Sandoval lovers don't need to fret about the gem Maya closing down...it's only temporary. In honor of its 15 years in business, the resto will be doing some renovations AND adding a tequileria aka a tequila bar. Maya will be getting a whole new look, revamping their menu, and making way for more tequila. The new self-dubbed tequila bar next door will feature 100 agave spirits, 15 house-infused tequilas, personal bottle storage, and Mexican small plates. Be on the look out for it's opening date!
