Get both a dinner and a show at Corio, a burlesque with a Mediterranean menu in SoHo. Corio brings excitement into the dining room with a rotating musical act to entertain hungry guests. The dancers perform on an eight inch elevator rise used as a stage to both a traditional style burlesque and a mix of modern music under a seductive red light. The inside is decorated with vintage 1960’s wallpaper, large couches and, purple-hued hardwood floors, giving the venue a romantic, sultry feel. Corio offers a full bar as well as a bottle menu. The dinner menu is light and customized for sharing with friends while enjoying the show.
Want to know how to get into Manhattan’s most exclusive clubs? The NY Post’s Page Six Magazine interviewed some of the city’s most notorious doormen in hopes of figuring out what makes them lift the velvet rope.
At Goldbar, Johhny Lennon says he is offered sex on a nightly basis and recounts a specific incident with a ‘well-endowed’ patron: “I had a girl [last week] say, 'Don't you like these?' while pointing at her breasts.” Lennon’s door is rumored to be the tightest in town and the presence of only 12 tables inside (two of which must be saved for celebrities every night) doesn’t help loosen the reigns. However, Lennon adds his own personal touch to the club’s mix, allowing skateboarding hipsters in along with the A-list crowd and sometimes giving a break to dudes who want to impress their dates.

Nestled below the A-List restaurant STK in the Meatpacking District is Tenjune, one of the newest spots to see and be seen in Manhattan. The club’s namesake can be traced back to Tenjune’s owners, Eugene Remm and Mark Birbaum, who both share the birthday June 10th. The doormen at Tenjune are some of the strictest and most experienced in the city, and turn away around 200 people per night. To get into this venue you’ll need more than tall, fantastic looking women, you’ll need to act and behave in a certain way. Getting in is all about attitude and Tuesdays are an especially choosy night.
The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater has announced that they will be opening a second location in the East Village. Owner of the original theater, Alex Sidtis, has his sights set on the old Two Boots Pioneer Theater space at 155 East 3rd Street pending a wine license. The new venue is a bit smaller with a 99 seat theater, but the extra location would allow for more stage time for performers.
Upright Citizens Brigade’s first location is in Chelsea at 307 W. 26th and is one of the city’s best sketch comedy clubs. It hosts a packed house every night with a wide array of performers.

Slate
Scene: Restaurant, Bar, Lounge, Nightclub, Game
This massive venue is perfect for the hyperactive pool shark who likes having their lounge, club, billiards room, ping pong room and restaurant, all in one place. Coming in for the billiards and pong, and staying for dinner and drinks is what Slate is all about. The menu is dubbed Nouveau American and remains traditional, but extensive enough to please everyone. Slate PLUS lounge is filled with comfy red velvet chairs which adds to the drawing room atmosphere. It also has a private VIP lounge and private dining area. Overall, the space offers an upscale twist on the dimly lit, old man billiards bars of yore.
Flatiron club, the Cutting Room, which is best known for its crazy Saturday Night Live cast parties and live music will be closing its doors on January 13th with a performance from Joan Rivers. The club is owned by Chris Noth (Sex and the City) and Steve Walters who blame the closing on a bad lease, saying that rent has tripled since opening up ten years ago. However, they are looking for new locations, mostly in Tribeca and hope to open a new club by the summer.
The Cutting Room opened back in late 1999 as a music venue with a more intimate vibe. Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock are among the many famed musicians who have performed here.

An inexpensive wine list lets you stick to your budget with glasses going for either $8 or $9. They also offer beer, champagne and specialty cocktails like the aptly named Julius Caesar (Vodka, Gran Marnier, Blood Orange puree and lime juice).
