Spotlight on Town Hall: To commemorate the Department of the Interior's recent designation of The Town Hall as a National Historic Landmark Site, The Trustees of The Town Hall Foundation will honor the site with a free concert event showcasing the vibrant NYC performing arts scene. The show will feature performances from the Broadway productions of Chicago, and The Phantom of the Opera, as well as Off-Broadway's Avenue Q, The New York City Gay Men's Chorus, The Town Hall Broadway's Rising Stars Chorus and more. The event will be hosted by NY1 anchor Roma Torre and will also feature a special performance by Smash star and Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan. Tickets, which are free to the public, become available at Noon on March 25th at The Town Hall box office. The show will take place on March 28th at 6pm at The Town Hall.

Part festival, part fête, part conference, and part 5-day cocktail party the 4th Annual Manhattan Cocktail Classic is a “celebration of the myriad points of intersection between cocktails and culture.” Tickets for one of the most sought out events in the city go on sale this afternoon at noon. The multi-day celebration of cocktails and culture is held throughout the city at the most renowned watering holes, across three boroughs. From May 17-21, cocktail and spirit enthusiasts will revel at dozens of events including boozy brunches, spirited soirees, bar crawls, bus tours, punch parties, and a three-day trade conference for industry professionals.

Courvoisiology is a new philosophy that pushes the boundaries of how cognac should be experienced, brought to you, of course, by Courvoisier. For the New York City launch, guests gathered at Millesime to experience a night of cognac with cocktails created exclusively for the event by renowned mixologists Moses Laboy and Duane Fernandez, Jr. Unlike other standard tasting events, this one showcased different flavors of Courvoisier cognac, along with smoking test tubes, bubbling beakers, and an array of spices and ingredients that can be used in an Courvoisier cocktail. While guests nibbled on passed hors d'oeuvres they sampled the creative cocktails being concocted right in front of them by the mixologists. During the event it became apparent that whether you choose to sip on Courvoisier Rose, Gold, or C by Courvoisier, you can really pair these diverse cognacs with bold and unexpected flavors and walk away with a great cocktail. Earlier this week, The School of American Ballet held their 2013 Winter Ball: A Night in the Far East at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater. The annual dinner dance was attended by more than 400 patrons, including the School's board members and alumni, as well as leaders from New York corporate and social communities. Van Cleef & Arpels and Ron Wendt Design put on quite the display, evoking the colors and ornaments of the Baron Alexis de Rede's 1969 Le Bal Oriental held at the Hotel Lambert in Paris. Van Cleef & Arpels was the lead corporate sponsor of the gala for the sixth year in a row. The ball began with cocktails and dinner, followed by a performance and then The Encore dessert and dancing.

If you've always wondered what is was like during Prohibition, now is your chance to find out. Throw back some moonshine, cozy up to gangsters, ogle at burlesque dancers and solve a murder. Artist and author Cynthia Von Buhler is the woman behind Speakeasy Dollhouse. Cynthia's Italian immigrant grandfather, Frank Spano, owned a speakeasy and was killed in Manhattan in 1935. The shooter was caught but the case was inexplicably dismissed, leaving the murder a complete mystery.

The art world is buzzing with anticipation for the 100th anniversary of the prestigious Armory Show which opens its doors today and stretches through the weekend. No longer held at its original historic venue, The 69th Regiment Armory, this year’s installment of the Armory Show will be held at Pier 92 and Pier 94 in Midtown Manhattan. Renowned the world over, The Armory Show is essentially an international contemporary and modern art fair that is devoted to showcasing the world’s leading art galleries and their most important artworks from the 20th and 21st centuries.

This year’s Amory Show is split between the two piers holding the event. Pier 92 will be showcasing historically significant modern art from top galleries such as the Forum Gallery, LEVY Galerie, Vivian Horan Fine Art, and dozens more. Contemporary artworks from up-and-coming, new artists and living artists will be featured on Pier 94, with exhibition pieces from Eleven Rivington, GRIMM, and Two Palms among many others. The 2013 Armory Show will also have a focus exhibit that will highlight artworks from the United States. The Focus: USA gallery will have exhibit pieces from the collections of Various Small Fries, Suzanne Geiss, Anthony Meier Fine Arts, and more.

The new glamorous and seductive lounge, The Spot, in the Trump SoHo Hotel, officially opened last Wednesday to a small, intimate crowd that could most likely fit inside a single subway car. Guests mingled in the space, formerly known as Kastel, while DJ JUS-SKE spun, beneath a flurry of gold-hued Chinese lanterns. Although the dark stacked-stone walled space is tiny, there is enough room for a few circular, tufted leather banquettes, a small bar, and a DJ booth in one corner. If you want to dance the night away, The Spot, isn’t really ideal, but make the best of what’s available in the middle of the banquette seating. Opening night DJ JUS-SKE, along with Danny A. Abeckaser and other partners, opened this space after the original plans of opening, Bartelier, an ultra-lounge from LA nightlife veteran Darren Dzienciol, fell through. Abeckaser and his partners decided to call the new lounge, The Spot, after a bar Abeckaser frequented on his first trip to Miami. The name also stems from the most important question anyone ever asks when coordinating a night out of the town, “what’s the spot tonight?” The Spot is destined to become the next exclusive VIP lounge in the city due to its small size. As for right now, enjoy the “sultry new grotto of bottles” and all its newness.
