Morse street in Rogers Park is one of Chicago's most underrated and under appreciated places to get loaded. There is a number of bars and restaurants all conveniently clustered around the Morse red line stop without all the woo girls and 28 year old softball fanatics you usually run into around Addison. Besides the reasonably priced low key watering holes and gyro restaurants, Morse street also has a fantastic venue that hosts not only some top notch musical acts, but also theater, and a mixed media gallery as well.
As if to match the cobble stone side streets around Morse street, the Mayne Stage has the appearance of one of America's early 20th century theaters. Everything from the massive sign out front with letters written with light bulbs, to the theater with its lounge tables and blue velvet curtains is reminiscent of a cabaret theater. It's a throw back to an age, an age which most people are from are most likely dead.
